Born Again

What Happens when we are born again?

Being born again is the most significant event in a person’s life.  It is a powerful encounter of eternal proportions with God Himself.  Words cannot explain the awesomeness of what happens when the Spirit of God touches a human life and transforms it.
No matter how insignificant or unloved we may feel, God is ready to meet us because He loves us so much. God is head-over-heels in love with every man, woman and child.

Born again, saved, receiving Christ - these mean the same thing - that you have responded to the Holy Spirit’s prompting, and have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.

The Bible says that prior to accepting Christ, men and women are separated from God by the barrier of sin. No person on the face of Planet Earth has the ability to stand in God’s presence because we are tainted by sin and its works (Romans 3:10-11). When we are born again Jesus Christ removes this barrier, and we can then enjoy friendship and fellowship with God. Knowing Jesus Christ is life-changing! Prepare to be transformed!

Physical Birth and Spiritual Birth

When we are born into this world we have a mother, a father and sometimes brothers and sisters. We are born as babies and grow in stature and maturity over many years. In the same way, when we accept Jesus Christ, we are born into God’s family - He is our heavenly Father and there are millions of brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world. Although we enter into Christian life as "babes in Christ", we will grow and develop as we allow God to nurture and lead us.

Eternal Destiny

Apart from birth, death is the other inevitable event in everyone’s life. Once we are born again, God changes our eternal destiny. He literally takes us out of the kingdom of darkness and places us into a new place - into His kingdom, which is full of mercy and light (Colossians 1:13). Once our sin separated us from God’s presence and meant that we would spend eternity in hell, a place prepared for the devil and his demons. But, because of His great love, God has made a way for every person to spend eternity with Him. Jesus gives us a supernatural change of course!

God loves you

One of the most well-known verses from the Bible is John 3:16. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Because our human minds are limited in understanding the things of God, we can only begin to understand its deepest meaning. But as God reveals more truths to our spirits, we begin to appreciate and understand its magnitude.

God’s love is individual for each person as He knows us intimately - He knows our needs, our hurts, our pain and our pleasure. He also knows what is best for us, even if we may disagree with Him. Only God sees things from an eternal perspective.

The Gift of Salvation

Think of salvation as a Christmas gift. Inside one box are many individually wrapped presents all addressed to you. One scripture in the Bible says that "no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind
has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him (1 Corinthians 2:9).

Listed below are just some of the many benefits of giving our lives to Christ:

  • We become God’s children (John 1:12)
  • All our sins are forgiven (1 John 2:12)
  • We are Baptised by the Holy Spirit into Christ’s body (the Church) (1 Cor 12:13).
  • We are able to approach God with confidence (Hebrews 10:19)
  • We have peace (Philippians 4:7)
  • We are set free {John 8:32)
  • We are dead to sin (Romans 6:1)
  • We have a mansion in heaven (John 14:2,3)
